Examples of interview questions and answers for the CCNA

Here are some examples of how to answer 12 of the questions we just talked about. If you know how to answer these questions well, you can show the interviewer how knowledgeable and experienced you are, which could help you get the job.

1.What does it mean to route?

Routing is the process of finding the best way to send data from where it starts to where it ends up. Routes are set up with something called a “router.” A device used in the network layer is a router.

2. Why is using switches helpful?

Sending the same data to all ports at once is less efficient than using a switch. The bits of the signal sent to a switch are used to make a frame. Then it gets access, figures out the address of where the frame needs to go, and sends it to the right port.

3.In the world of networking, what does “Window” mean?

A Window is the number of segments that can be sent from the source to the destination before the destination sends an acknowledgment.

4. What slows down the network?

A network gets clogged up when too many people try to use the same bandwidth at the same time. Larger networks that don’t use network segmentation are more likely to have network congestion.

5.What does it mean to BootP?

“BootP,” which stands for “Boot Program,” is a protocol that is usually used to start up work areas that don’t have hard drives but are connected to the same network. BootP can also be used by a workstation without a hard drive to find out its IP address and the IP address of the server PC.

6.What’s the difference between Privileged Mode and User Mode?

User Mode is a common way to do everyday things with a CISCO router. User Mode can be used, for example, to connect to remote devices or see what’s going on with a router. In Privileged Mode, you can do more advanced things with the router, like troubleshooting and setting it up. In Privileged Mode, you can use all of the options that are available in User Mode.

7.What does it mean to be “late”?

Latency is the amount of time that goes by between when a network device receives a data frame and when it sends that frame to another network segment.

8.What does it mean to subnet?

Subnetting is the process of splitting a larger network into smaller ones. In the network, there is an identifier or set of parameters for each subnet that tells how many subnets it has.

9.What does MAC stand for?

“MAC address” is the short form for “Media Access Control address.” With this address, you can find out what kind of media access control layer a network has. Most of the time, it’s saved in the ROM, which is different for each device.

10.There are two kinds of cables used in networking.

In networking, there are two types of cables: straight-through cables and crossover cables.

What’s the CDP?

CDP stands for “Cisco discovery protocol.” It is a layer 2 protocol that uses a media access control (MAC) address. CDP can be used to learn about iOS details, port numbers, router models, device IDs, and switch models.

How do you explain MTU?

Maximum transmission unit is what MTU stands for. It shows how big a packet can be that can be sent over a data line without having to be split up.
